Substance Misuse
Intervention
Walmsley and Associates provides intervention services for individuals identified at the worksite as having a problem with substance use. Our professional counsellors will assess the employee's problem use and identify the most appropriate treatment plan for that individual. Treatment may involve remaining in the community and making use of the EFAP counselling, support groups and other resources. Or in serious and critical situations, treatment may mean a referral to a treatment centre. In this situation, the Walmsley and Associates counsellor will complete the referral package, contact the treatment centre and arrange for admission. The counsellor will remain in contact with the treatment centre will the employee is there and work towards discharge planning. After completion of the treatment program the counsellor will review the treatment progress, identify the risk factors for returning to the community and assist the individual in working out and implementing a plan to maintain sobriety.
Prevention
Walmsley and Associates EFAP programs include prevention programs that address specific worksite problems like substance misue. Assistance is available to managers to assess the scope and seriousness of the problem. Walmsley and Associates programs also provide training and consultation to supervisors and managers around identifying problem use and addressing the problem with the employee. Prevention strategies can be implemented to create alcohol and drug free worksites and to train employees to be peer support and referral agents for problem users.
